In the fall of 2025, the German Architecture Museum Frankfurt am Main (DAM) is planning a play-along exhibition of historical architectural construction kits that the collector Claus Krieger has collected over many years. In cooperation with the IMIAD master's degree course at HFT Stuttgart, the aim is to use virtual reality technology, among other things, to enable playful and interactive access to the sensitive construction kits.
Inspired by O.M. Ungers’ "house within a house" concept, this project reconstructs the demolished Steimel House in virtual reality. It allows visitors to engage with the architecture through a hands-on, kit-based experience that reflects Ungers' pure geometric principles. Users act as architects, rebuilding the house from its elemental sections. This unique, interactive experience transforms historical restoration into a creative, personalized act, reviving a lost architectural memory.
