HITHA CHENICHERI PANDARAPPALLI

This study examines challenges and opportunities in implementing modular construction in the Indian industry. While modular construction has gained acceptance worldwide, its implementation in India faces various challenges, particularly in supply chain management. Existing research highlights the weak supply chain as a major obstacle. This study aims to investigate the interrelationships between supply chain partners, analyze the current integration levels, and identify challenges to optimize the coordination and integration of the supply chain at the contractor level. The study aims to analyze supply chain integration, identify challenges, and develop strategies for the efficient execution of modular housing projects. The findings fill a research gap and provide insights for practitioners and policymakers.
However, there are contradictions between industry experts and literature that suggest a knowledge gap. The dynamic sector may have different practices than described in the literature as the Interviews reveal innovative approaches. Effective communication, protocols, technology, cooperation, and planning are crucial for improved outcomes and companies have aligned integration strategies with literature recommendations, indicating efforts to enhance supply chain integration in Indian modular construction. Moreover, there is a high level of integration of supply chain partners in the Indian modular construction industry contradicting the existing literature knowledge.
