ANALYZING THE RELEVANCE OF ACTIVE MOBILITY IN THE DESIGN OF A SMART CITY

B. ARCH. LORENA ORTIZ LOPEZ, M.ENG

The continuous growth of the global population and the rapid urbanization, have led to car-centric cities where vehicles have become the primary element of the urban landscape. Nevertheless, by understanding that people are the main element of the city and not the vehicles, quality of life can be improved. Overall, the study highlights the need to redefine the concept of a Smart City towards more human-centered and inclusive approaches, such as the 15-Minute City.
