AUTOMATING BUILDING PERMIT COMPLIANCE: INTEGRATING BIM AND AI TO ADDRESS PROCEDURAL AND DIGITAL BOTTLENECKS
YOSRI KAABAR
Building permit procedures often involve fragmented data, manual checks, and outdated digital workflows. This thesis explores how Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can automate regulatory compliance checks by linking digital building models to building regulations. Based on stakeholder interviews and a proof of concept focused on Baden-Württemberg, the project shows how explainable, model-based checks can help authorities reduce repetitive work and improve the approval process.
